Canada (April 2019)

An amazing summer adventure through the stunning lakes, glaciers, and mountains of Banff and Jasper National Parks.

So, we went to Canada during the summer of 2019, like right after, well, not right after, school ended. In preparation for the trip, Amma said that we could download any 2 movies we liked. So, at the end, we got the Lorax and Jumanji. Anyway, this isn't really that important so, zoom, let's fast-forward into the future!

Canadian Rockies

First, we went to Calgary, which btw had a really cool hotel that we stayed in. It had a waterpark inside, like that's so cool.

We stayed there for 1 night. We also went to this cool Indian restaurant that had pretty awesome food.

The next day, we started going to a lake area in Banff. We went to Lake Louise, a super cool lake with cyan water, CYAN WATER!!!!!!! After seeing the lake, we went on a hike where we could see the lake even better. We even went canoeing where me and Manasi almost toppled over the boat into the cool, but freezing lake.

Lake Louise

The lake area was actually in Banff but we stayed in a nearby city called Canmore. That place had an awesome suite with like 5 rooms just for us plus a huge kitchen.

The next day, we started driving to Athabasca glacier in Jasper. It was so cool. And by that, I mean the temperature is cool. Actually, it should be freezing cold. Anyway, we took this ice van that took us up to the glacier. We saw flags from all countries that had been there and the ice sheet was just WOW! No better words to explain it than that. I'll also put a picture since I'm not very descriptive.

After that, we went to the Columbia Icefield Skywalk. It had clear glass floors and walls and showed us the whole of the mountain ranges and the city and beyond. It was also kind of freaky since it felt like the glass would break and we would go tumbling into the deep dark (not really) valley below us.

(You can see Manasi kind of freaking out.) We stayed at a lodge like cabin called Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge in the middle of a forest. Me and Appa one morning went out and explored the falls even. They're really powerful-looking!

Sunwapta Falls

After exploring the falls, we went to Maligne Lake where we went to this cool mini island. One of the ladies taking us there told us that the lady who was funding the expedition in 1800's for these mountains brought along her nephew, and since he was very annoying, his aunt promised to name a MOUNTAIN AFTER HIM, if he kept quiet!!!!!!!!! I wish I got one named after me. Imagine…. Mt. Tanushri.

Another cool thing was that every year the Native people there always came and did a ritual that they never told anybody else about which is why the island got the name Spirit Island. Ooohhh!!!!!! Spooky!

We also went to Maligne Falls and saw a waterfall coming out of a mountain side. Since it was cool to go inside and see where the fall was coming from, there was a huge line that we gave up standing in. The coolest thing to me that day was going to Grandma's ice cream. They had more than fifty flavors with so many cool toppings and cones!

I don't remember exactly when, but soon after, maybe the next day, we went to Banff and the ice cream shop Cows which is supposed to have the best ice cream in the world. We're all about the ice cream! A super hilarious, funny thing was that when we were driving, there was a huge, black bear crossing the road that freaked out Amma so much!

Yah, and so that was the last real trip day of our trip. We just drove back to Calgary and stayed at Hilton suites for a night next to the airport and then away we went, back to our home country just a few hours away!
